2. Applying an Incentives Based Strategy

“Applying an Incentives Based Strategy”, is the first clip of Playlist No. 2 (of six total playlists)  that provide a tutorial on “Reentry Court. The Reentry Court uses positive reinforcement to effect behavioral change; using awards, rewards, and positive, and negative incentives to recognize accomplishments. A tangible example: The courtroom bulletin board displayed the SFPRC Newsletter, awards and certificates, letters and poetry, photos of graduation and awards/ceremonies, family and friends, court picnics, and newly inducted Honor Roll members.

Allyson West, our Reentry Court Program Coordinator, set the standard for our approach to participants. A long time volunteer at San Quentin prison, she had a respect and devotion for our participants that demonstrated to  our entire team, the potential impact of treating ex-offenders with good-will. She encouraged the team to use positive reinforcement to effect behavioral change; using awards, rewards, and positive, and negative incentives to recognize accomplishments.
